Discover Dahlonega is proud to announce that their all-new visitors guide won a gold International Davey Award in the Design & Print Collateral category!

With nearly 2,000 entries from across the U.S. and from around the world, the Davey Awards honor the finest creative work from the best small shops, firms and companies worldwide. The Daveys are judged and overseen by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), an invitation-only, member-based organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media. AIVA members come from many prominent media, advertising and marketing firms such as Spotify, Microsoft, Disney, Conde Nast, JP Morgan and others.

The “2020 Dahlonega Discovery Guide,” as the publication is called, represents a marked divergence from previous visitors guides produced by the organization. With a new decade and new leadership upon them, the CVB was inspired to create something entirely new for their annual visitor-oriented publication as well and brought on tourism marketing firm Accent Create Group of Lawrenceville, Georgia for their expertise and fresh perspective on the project. Moving away from outdated “listing”-style content and Dahlonega’s previous focus on gold history, the new guide sets out to inspire visitors with large, vivid photography and a focus on outdoor adventure. While information on area attractions, shopping and dining remains, that information has been transformed into easily digestible, intriguing content displayed in a mixture of infographics, short blurbs and imagery. The result is a publication that both attracts and informs, catering to the short attention spans of the modern era. “We are beyond thrilled to have our efforts recognized with such a prestigious distinction,” said Sam McDuffie, Tourism Director of the CVB. “We’d like to thank the talented team at Accent for their hard work and creativity, our board for their support, our area photographers for helping capture Dahlonega so beautifully, and of course our local businesses—for there wouldn’t be a Dahlonega to discover without all of you!” A digital version of the 2020 Dahlonega Discovery Guide may be downloaded or viewed online.
