Girlfriends' Wine Country Getaway

Dream it and then just come on up (or down) for Northeast Georgia fun!  Have your girlfriends get together just one hour northeast of Atlanta for a Historic Dahlonega, North Georgia Wine Region, and Mountain adventure experience all in one much-needed trip.  An authentic National Registered Historic shopping district, Dahlonega features shops and boutiques, spas and eateries, arts and history —all situated against a backdrop of mountains, forests, and vineyards.

Day 1:: Start with a Shopping Stroll

Rendezvous in Downtown Dahlonega for one-of-a-kind shopping and strolling to catch up, wind down, and munch on some homemade sweets in our award-willing historic retail district.  Local art fuses with culinary art for that relaxing visit with friends, siblings, or significant other.  Taste some wines, tour the town or simply take in the sights and sounds as you slow down with the girls!  Before and after lunch, Chocolates and treats from The Fudge Factory and Paul Thomas Chocolates are a must for your savory downtown visit before or after lunch.  A scoop or two of ice cream always satisfies from Connie’s or Picnic Café in a downtown with restaurants and shops that takes desserts and sweets seriously.

After lunch, it’s time for some personal pampering: Head to a number of Healing Arts & Day Spa options for some relaxation and renewal for the body, mind, and spirit.

Check in to your cozy overnight choice of Dahlonega Hotel, B & B, Cabin, Resort, Villa or even group lodge or house rental. For evening dinner and entertainment, treat yourself to casual to fine-dining with great food downtown or just outside of town on a river, mountain road, or vineyard.  Live music and shows of multiple genres can be found in the restaurants or at the Nationally-known Crimson Moon Café Live Stage.  This intimate music venue and restaurant hosts regionally and nationally touring musicians and groups.

Day 2::  Adventure Morning & Vineyards Afternoon

Get outdoors for some morning to midday adventure.  Take to our Walking and Hiking Trails around Dahlonega, sections of the Appalachian Trail, or in the Chattahoochie National Forest.  If you brought the mountain bikes, you will not be disappointed.  Waterfalls and Amicalola Falls State Park are must-see attractions with even more trails and then cool off with river outfitters and adventure options for paddling canoes, kayaks, or just letting your feet hang from your floating tubes!

Now that you and your friends have worked up an appetite, grab a casual lunch from BBQ and pizza to sandwiches and pub fare.
Afternoon along the Dahlonega Wine Trail is a spectacular way to sample North Georgia premium wines, tour winemaking facilities, and take in the views of the Appalachian foothills.  Seven wineries offer a nice variety of experiences and hospitality packages of tasting, tours, and exceptional dinner menus and special events.

The Dahlonega Square Hotel Wine Tours have become a favorite way to experience the beautiful mountain scenery, extraordinary wines and showcase the uniqueness of our North GA wineries. Come see why Dahlonega is known as the Heart of Georgia Wine Country! Join in and make new friends while relaxing in one of our luxury, custom buses as they take you to the finest wineries in Georgia. Their Dahlonega Social Wine Tour will begin 11 am, departing from The Dahlonega Square Hotel and will travel to Montaluce Winery, The Dahlonega Resort and Vineyard where you will have lunch, followed by tastings at Twisted Wines, Kaya Vineyard, and Wolf Mountain, and conclude back at The Dahlonega Square Hotel at 5 pm. (The cost per tickets is $60 and does not include the cost of lunch or tasting tickets) Click here for more information.

Hopefully, happy hour means some local wines you decided to take home with you or just more catching up and lots of laughing at your lodging – to be followed by a nice evening out for dinner and a show at the Historic Holly Theater or back to some live music rooms.

Day 3::  Shopping Bags before Goodbyes

Try a different breakfast morning and then enjoy a little more shopping and dining before heading back to the real world.  Sleep a little late or come on back from that morning exercise or local yoga class to head out from some breakfast, special brunch in town or in wine country, and walk the quaint town just one more time.  Don’t miss the many fine arts and crafts galleries if you did not drop in on your arrival downtown stroll or one of the evenings out.  Before the hugs, get full and happy with a family-style menu or a patio or porch view to munch of some lunch like a local.

Travel Safely home and come back soon for the fine arts, food, and fun!
