The historic Holly Theatre has been part of Dahlonega since 1948, first welcoming audiences as a movie house before reopening to the public in 1993 as a performing arts venue. More recently, Dahlonega welcomed the Menagerie Theatre, adding another exciting stage for live entertainment. The local Lumpkin County School System is also well known for their drama department, which has sent many actors and theatre techs to the Holly and other venues in the region plus college theatre departments around the USA.
