Winter is a great time to get away from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta. Come to Dahlonega, where we just get better the colder the weather!

Why winter is the right time to visit Dahlonega

Were famous for our mountain vistas. And in the winter, the air is clearer and the leaves are gone opening up visibility for miles.

Our in-town hotels and bed & breakfasts offer special deals in the winter, especially mid-week. The accommodations right near the square are close enough to walk over to browse our locally-owned shops, restaurants, art galleries, and live music joints.

But that’s just the start of why winter is the best time to visit Dahlonega for a mountain of a good time!

If the outdoors are your thing, winter is a hidden treasure

When most people think of outdoor activities, summer seems like the obvious choice. But winter offers a whole new way to enjoy your favorite outdoor activities.

Dahlonega offers 22 hiking trails within 32 miles of the square. In addition to winter-expanded views, youll find that the forest is even quieter as many animals hibernate and migrate, and there is little foliage to rattle in the wind. All youll hear are the crunch of leaves under your feet.

Horseback riding, hiking, and exploring Georgia’s most famous waterfalls in the winter is a truly unique way to experience the wonders of the forest.

Southern Living calls Dahlonega “The Napa of the South”
