It's Christmas Time in Dahlonega
That article was shared in Country Living online and also on MSN, spreading the word far and wide and drawing significant notice.
Explore Georgia also just listed Dahlonega among only a handful of special places in Georgia for the holidays.
Dahlonega is truly a special place for the holidays, starting with not one – but two – downtown lighting events kicking off Old Fashioned Christmas -- one to light the Historic Public Square in shimmering white lights, and the other a week later, to light the 25-foot town tree. Horsedrawn carriage rides contribute a rhythmic “clip-clop” to the downtown buzz at night and Santa, a Santa helper elf, and Mrs. Claus greet kids (both naughty and nice) starting on Friday, November 24, right after the Lighting of the Square. Also on Friday, the 24th, luminarias around the Dahlonega Gold Museum, in the center of the Square, light the way for Santa’s sleigh.
In Lumpkin County, five B&Bs are being featured as part of a Sleigh Bell Inn Tour, on Saturday, December 10 – all are decorated to the hilt and will open their doors for indoor tours and tours of the grounds. And six wineries and vineyards – all with distinctively different personalities, from California casual for North Georgia rustic -- celebrate the season as only wineries can.
Holiday shopping is the centerpiece of downtown Dahlonega, with more than 65 shops, and 15 restaurants all surrounding the oldest courthouse building still standing in the state of Georgia – now the Dahlonega Gold Museum. In addition to trees around the Square, individual shop -- including two chocolate shops, seven wine tasting rooms, a variety of art galleries and a pottery studio, are colorfully decorated, welcoming returning guests and first-time visitors.
