1.  Firecracker 5k

As this author has previously noted, this is the perfect 4th of July event for you and your pooch! The race begins at 8AM at the newly renovated Gold Musuem, and the trail will take you through the historic downtown Dahlonega. Whether you sprint it, walk it, or push your best bud in a stroller, this is a great way to spend time together. There will even be bananas at the finish line, so you and your fur kid can split a healthy snack! Register here

2. Breakfast at Our Local Dog Friendly Cafe

You've spent some quality time together exercising, and now it's time to dig in! Picnic Cafe and Dessertery is happy to host you and your best friend in their outdoor seating, where you can happily watch the July 4th hustle and bustle in the Dahlonega downtown square. They'll even bring your pup peanut butter or whipped cream upon request!

4. Lunch at One of Our Dog Friendly Restaurants

Come dine at Shenanigan's Irish Restaraunt and Pub or Pueblos Mexican Cuisine with your fur baby. When you eat at Shenanigan's, check in with the host at the podium and then they will direct you to enter through the gate into the pet friendly deck. Similarly, when you visit Pueblos, just alert the host in the lobby and they'll be happy to open the patio gate to let you and your pup into the outdoor seating. It's super easy!

5. Fireworks

Bring your best bud to the evening's fireworks on the University of North Georgia's Drillfield and enjoy taking it easy together! Lay out on a picnic blanket and snack on some peanut butter and banana sandwiches together as you wait for the fireworks to start at dusk. It doesn't get much better than that!
