Welcome From Mayor Sam Norton
We'll be kicking the event off in high spirits as the LCHS Junior ROTC presents the colors and Mayor Norton leads the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance! Mayor Norton will speak about our many veterans participating in this year's parade, including our Grand Marshall, Colonel Jesse L. Johnson.
Unveiling of Dahlonega Stories Plaque
The ceremony will also mark the unveiling of the latest Dahlonega Stories Plaque, which will be located along northern side of the Dahlonega-Lumpkin Visitor's Center. This plaque commemorates the site where one of Dahlonega's hand pumps operated until the installation of municipal water lines in the 1920s. These pumps provided drinking water to the downtown square as well as water for extinguishing fires, which periodically afflicted the area. A hand pump that is identical to the two pumps that were once in downtown Dahlonega has been installed in the center of the island on East Main Street.

Performance from North Georgia Pipes and Drums
The ceremony will conclude with a rousing performance from the North Georgia Pipes and Drums, who will also be featured in the 4th of July Parade.
We look forward to seeing you there!
