Amicalola Falls State Park

Amicalola FallsSeveral short trails of varying difficulty are located in the Amicalola Falls State Park. The short hike along the Amicalola Creek to the base of Amicalola Falls is certainly worth the effort. The path starting at the reflection pool is paved and offers a moderate ascension along beautiful rapids to a viewing platform at the base of the falls. A more strenuous 2 mile loop trail to the top of the falls offers a nice view of the falls and the southern end of the Appalachian Range.

Amicalola Falls State Park is the starting point for most south to north AT trail thru-hikers. Starting at the Visitors Center Springer Mountain, the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, can be reached by way of an 8 mile approach trail.

The 8-mile approach trail to the southern terminus of the Appalachian Scenic Trail on Springer Mountain begins at the Visitors Center.
