Who Should Participate in Leadership Lumpkin County?
You

- You either have leadership experience through work, civic
organizations, church, school, or other organizations or you see yourself as
having untapped leadership potential and wish to develop or improve your
leadership skills.
- You are concerned about this community and want to learn about the
issues and challenges it faces.
-
You are willing to contribute your time, energy, talent and skills to
enhance of this community.
While
many similar programs focus solely on young “emerging” leaders, LLC strives to
incorporate a wide range of leadership experience levels in its class make-up.
With an interactive, interpersonal curriculum designed to support both
leadership skills development and
exposure to community issues, LLC encourages participants to share the benefit
of their own experience while they also learn from others.
The Investment
There is a $250 tuition fee
to participate in Leadership
Lumpkin County’s
2008-09 program. This modest fee covers program materials, supplies and
activities, lunches, and participants’ graduation dinners. While the actual
cost of the program far exceeds this amount, the Chamber contributes
substantial administrative, marketing and other support to LLC. Local businesses and community leaders also
consistently invest in local leadership development through donations and
sponsorships in support of LLC.
The
Application Process: What Next?
Leadership Lumpkin
County is managed by an advisory
committee of volunteer LLC graduates and a Chamber representative. After
reviewing all applications submitted by the August 15, 2008 deadline, the
advisory committee will select up to 25 candidates to participate in the
upcoming class. Every effort will be made to build a rich and balanced class
that reflects diversity in every regard, including such factors as
organizational affiliation and length of residence in the community.
Out-of-town residents with strong, active ties to local businesses or other
organizations will be considered.
If selected for the 2008-09 LLC program, you will
receive a letter by August 31st and
have until September 15, 2008 to return the appropriate forms and
tuition payment. At that point, you will be considered a current class
participant and can expect to receive an invitation to attend the opening
reception on September 24, 2008.
