The Investment

This modest fee covers program materials, supplies and activities, lunches, and participants’ graduation dinners. While the actual cost of the program far exceeds this amount, the Chamber contributes substantial administrative, marketing and other support to LLC.  Local businesses and community leaders also consistently invest in local leadership development through donations and sponsorships in support of LLC.

The Application Process: What Next?

Leadership Lumpkin County is managed by an advisory committee of volunteer LLC graduates and a Chamber representative. After reviewing all applications submitted by the August 15, 2008 deadline, the advisory committee will select up to 25 candidates to participate in the upcoming class. Every effort will be made to build a rich and balanced class that reflects diversity in every regard, including such factors as organizational affiliation and length of residence in the community. Out-of-town residents with strong, active ties to local businesses or other organizations will be considered.

If selected for the 2008-09 LLC program, you will receive a letter by August 31st and  have until September 15, 2008 to return the appropriate forms and tuition payment. At that point, you will be considered a current class participant and can expect to receive an invitation to attend the opening reception on September 24, 2008.

Leadership Lumpkin County is the experience of a lifetime. It requires commitment and time (1 day a month) from class members, but, in return, offers a substantive education on the inner workings and resources of our county! Leadership Lumpkin was designed over 30 years ago to be a springboard for those interested in volunteering their time to community service.

In addition to learning about what makes our county prosperous, participants get to meet the community leaders who make things happen. Class members also have a year to get to know each other, develop business associations, and forge new friendships.
