Michelle Malone (8:30 pm - 10:30 pm)
Twice Grammy nominated 'Moanin' Malone' plays southern rock & hard-edge blues that could knock Sheryl Crow & Bonnie Raitt off their pedestals! Armed with a bottleneck slide, blues harmonica, and her signature gut-wrenching vocals, Moanin’ Malone (a nickname given to her by BB King after hearing her sing), has shared stages and tours with such blues legends as Charlie Musselwhite, Johnny Winter, ZZ Top, Marsha Ball and the late Chris Whitley - as well as folk icons Indigo Girls, Shawn Colvin, Jackson Browne and John Mayer! Tonight’s ‘unplugged’ performance will feel like she’s playing in your living room – ‘cause she’s playing a rare show without her band – and she can already make an intimate venue feel like the center of the universe! MORE INFO ABOUT MICHELLE MALONE Armed with a bottleneck slide, blues harmonica, and her signature soul-filled vocals, Michelle Malone was born in the Deep South and grew up listening to her mother sing in the church choir every Sunday. When it came time to craft her own sound, she took those religious roots, blended in enough rock, folk, and blues to satisfy. The result is, Debris, a high-spirited stripped down blend of rootsy acoustic slide, gritty electric blues and explosive vocals that harkens back to the lost recordings of Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams and The Rolling Stones. Debris, Michelle’s 10th release, is easily one of her most revealing and emotional discs. Helping her capture the mood is producer Nick Di Dia (Nick has been Brendon O’Brien’s engineer for 15 years, and has worked on recordings by Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Train, Matthew Sweet). Says Malone, “Nick is brilliant, and we found that we work very well together. He was able to translate the live grit of “Feather In A Hurricane” and “Undertow” and in the next breath illustrate his sensitivity and finesse on “14th Street and Mars” and “Debris”. He let the songs take us where they wanted to go. Malone found herself tackling some serious subject matter while at the same time making that spirited soul-shaking music that she loves. She says, “I have to play these songs every night, so I need them to be fun – I want to have a good time, too.” If one line could capture the sentiment of Debris it would be, “Don’t you think it’s time to let your childhood go?” Michelle expounds, “Debris is basically a breakup record about a relationship that had me in a state of arrested development for over a decade. I wrote about the anger, the heartbreak, the humor, and the relief I finally found in the end.” Joining Malone in the studio were long time friend and heavy hitter Peter Stroud on guitar (Sheryl Crow), Phil Skipper on bass (Tinsley Ellis, Drag the River), Tony Reyes on keys (Dallas Austin, Gwen Stefani), and Dave Anthony on drums (Ike, Butch Walker). The names of Michelle Malone’s ten albums serve as an autobiography; New Experience, Relentless, For You Not Them, Redemption Dream, Beneath the Devil Moon, Home Grown, Hello Out There, Stompin’ Ground, and last year’s critically acclaimed Sugarfoot. She has been on dozens of “Best Of” lists and won many awards throughout her career including 4 time best album (Atlanta magazine), 2 time best acoustic guitarist (Creative Loafing, IAC), Best Blues Guitarist (IAC.com), and 5 time female vocalist of the year (Creative Loafing). Living a paraphrased line by one of her inspirations, Tina Turner, Michelle has never done anything nice and easy. She bit the major label lure and despite promises broken, indulgences extended and excesses expected, Michelle continued creating solid songs, introspective, energetic and impressive forays into bluesy rock as well as tasty pop nuggets. This wealth of material has enabled Malone, to tour and record for over 20 years, averaging over 200 days a year on the road. Michelle’s live show is not to be missed—she can make the biggest venues seem as cozy as a campfire, and an intimate venue feel like the center of the universe. She’s shared stages with blues legends Albert King, Charlie Musselwhite, Johnny Winter, Little Feat, Lurrie Bell, ZZ Top, Robert Cray, Keb Mo, Tinsley Ellis, Marsha Ball and Chris Whitley as well as Indigo Girls, John Mayer, Steve Earle, K.T. Tunstall, Shawn Colvin, Jackson Browne and Joan Osborne. “Why Michelle Malone hasn’t knocked the likes of Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt off of their roots-rock and blues pedestals blows the mind. Malone’s authentic interpretation of good old Southern rock and hard-edge blues should have her rubbing shoulders with the Allman Brothers and Buddy Guys of the world. Malone’s hand-to-mouth, pounding touring might limit her recording schedule, but her last couple of studio releases, Sugarfoot and Stompin’ Ground, are rousing and relentless toe-tapping beauties deserving of a boatload of attention.” – GEMELLI (The Village Voice, NY, NY) www.MICHELLEMALONE.com $20 Advance Reservations / $22 Day of Show

Dahlonega Farmers Market (7:00 am - 3:00 pm)
Good diet and high quality, locally grown food are priorities for shoppers these days. Did you know that the finest quality vegetables, fruits, honeys, and culinary herbs as well as decorative flowers and plants are available in downtown Dahlonega at our local Farmers Market? There is no better source for quality produce, locally grown and fresh picked from the garden. Buy direct from your local farmers and get great prices for the best produce in the region. Shoppers will also find delicious jams, jellies, honey, dried flowers, and garden seeds.

The Market is held every Tuesday and Saturday in beautiful Hancock Park, at the corner of North Park Street and Warwick Street. There is abundant free parking. The local farmers begin setting up their products between 7-7:30 a.m., and you can shop the selections until 3 p.m. or until the daily inventories are sold out.

Each week, shoppers will see new products available at the market. Because all of the items are locally grown, the products are seasonal. Shoppers may talk with the farmers and inquire about the schedule of availability for specific products in each growing season. During the early weeks of the market shoppers will find a variety of plants available along with smaller quantities of spring garden vegetables in season. As warmer weather arrives, the number of seasonal vegetables and fruits increases at the market.

Shoppers will notice the special high quality of the produce. It is obvious that the fruits and vegetables are grown with great pride and care. All products at the market are locally grown by the farmers who are also selling them at the park.

Treat yourself and your family to the best quality, low prices, and good selection, and feel good about supporting our local farmer/growers. Bring along the kids and grand kids for a nice produce shopping experience and linger in Hancock Park. Make it a romantic morning out--bring along your spouse and enjoy downtown Dahlonega’s extensive dining opportunities and linger for some great shopping at the amazing retail stores in the downtown area. Downtown Dahlonega has it all.

Farmers and growers can acquire their Farmers Market permits at City Hall, 465 Riley Road, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Permits cost only $10 per month for growers.

The Downtown Dahlonega Farmers Market is sponsored by the City of Dahlonega’s Better Hometown Program and Downtown Development Authority. Support is provided by the Georgia Appalachian Studies Center at NGCSU and the Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber of Commerce. Contact Joel Cordle, 706-864-6133.

SALLY BARRIS And DON HENRY (8:30 pm - 10:30 pm)
Grammy/CMA Song of The Year winner known as “the Randy Newman of the 90’s” teams up with one of Nashville’s most exquisite ‘song birds’ and Grammy Nominee, Sally Barris, for an evening of not to miss song sharing! From Kathy Mattea’s Grammy+ award winning recording of Don’s ‘Where Have You Been’ to Trisha Yearwood’s & Keith Urban’s Grammy nominated collaboration of Sally’s ‘Let The Wind Chase You,’ the song crafting skills of Sally Barris and Don Henry are as diverse and impressionable as the lists of artists who’ve recorded them. From the legendary Ray Charles or Conway Twitty, to the more contemporary Martina McBride or Lee Ann Womack, Don and Sally’s songs have helped carry many a ‘top tier’ artist even higher up the charts. Henry’s strong lyrical flavors of Randy Newman, John Prine, and Harry Chapin …sweetened by Barris’s Nanci Griffith/Alison Kraus shadowed crystalline vocals… will create a memorable feast of song sharing from these Nashville writers tonight! PRESS QUOTES ABOUT SALLY & DON "Sally Barris has a voice like sparkling crystal. You could have knocked me over with a feather the first time I heard her. Her writing is from a deep, yet innocent, place and her point of view is just a bit off center. I am excited for her, she is standing at the beginning of her journey in this town, with all of it ahead of her. It reminds me of the first time I heard Beth Nielson-Chapman or Nanci Griffith. It’s going to be fun to watch." - Kathy Mattea Henry comes across as a first cousin to Randy Newman, writing hot-wired songs about born-again whores, interfaith marriages, and the homeless taking over the White House. This is funny and thought provoking stuff, all of it good. - Entertainment Weekly "Her soulful folk soprano is equal parts mountain rustic and ethereal poet. Everything about this disc is beautiful." - Music Row Magazine (review of Reluctant Daughter) Except for a few hecklers who jokingly mixed him up with Don Henley (which must happen all the time), the crowd was won over by this one guy and his guitar, and anyone this talented at being funny and touching at the same time certainly won't stay unknown for long. Long may he write. - Dirty Linen "What an amazing voice! Sally Barris has an excruciatingly beautiful voice." - Pierce Pettis Neobilly's answer to Harry Chapin. - Hits! TREES LEAVE (8:30 pm - 10:30 pm)
“The next ‘breakout Americana’ act out of Nashville,” marrying Bluegrass & Gospel roots with their love for Rock, Blues & Traditional Country for a fresh and definitely different sound! Touring in support of their five star rated new album, The Gospel of Hurt, Trees Leave is the innovative duo of Wyatt Espalin (vocals & fiddle) and Cobi Ferguson (harmony vocals, guitar and mandolin). They have shared the stage with stellar artists like Patti Loveless, Sam Bush, Tim O’Brien, and The Greencards - and were finalists in the ’09 Bluegrass category of MerlFest’s prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Contest. If you want to know what they sound like, melt Ryan Adams and Lucinda Williams with The Jayhawks and you’ll have something close, but perfectly and memorably different! MORE ABOUT ‘TREES LEAVE’ Any songwriter would have to agree that a feel-good song may fall out of the sky on a breezy, sunny day, but it may prove a daunting task for some. Most artists thrive on bringing their pain and misery into their work and, ironically, capture something beautiful that speaks volumes about the human condition by tapping into the dark realities of their lives. It may seem that there are no feel-good songs on "The Gospel of Hurt", the newest album by acclaimed Americana/Folk Rock duo, Trees Leave. But take a closer listen to this batch of emotional tunes and see what it's like to hurt so good. Trees Leave have traveled the nation for the last 2 years in support of their haunting debut album, "Run". From that album came the neo-Bluegrass number, "Water Falls" which placed the duo as a finalist in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest held at Merlefest every year. They were placed in the Bluegrass category, but even contest host, Jim Lauderdale, didn't know how to classify the song. "It's just different, in a good way", he said. That's exactly how Trees Leave likes to be described: different. Over the years, they have crafted a sound that marries their Bluegrass roots with their love of Rock, Blues and Traditional Country music. Trees Leave’s preferred brand of Americana mixes raw, emotional lyrics with equally jarring melodies and instrumentation. Whether they are plugged in or sitting on the back porch, the urgency in their music and performance is hard to ignore. Usually performing as a duo, they share rhythm guitar duties when the other is impressing on their signature instruments. Cobi Ferguson’s polarizing guitar riffs and Wyatt Espalin’s fiery fiddle solos add spice to their live performances and keeps audiences guessing what will come next. When the venue suits it, Trees Leave performs with a backing band and their songs do not hesitate to meet them at the next level. The listener is caught off guard with the twists of irony, winks of wit and sighs of sorrow of the characters in their songs. Trees Leave have studied the architects of Americana music and are not ashamed of borrowing from their influences such as Ryan Adams and Whiskeytown, Gillian Welch, the Counting Crows and new Folk-Pop act, the Weepies. They would never call themselves Bluegrass players, but they love taking turns on fiddle and mandolin-laced folk tunes and often try to recreate the sounds of old world music with their tight harmonies and interesting interpretations of old standards. The duo has had the privilege of sharing the stage with the following artists: Patty Loveless, The Greencards, Sam Bush, Angie Aparro, Tim O'Brien, The Infamous Stringdusters, Irons In The Fire, The Lovell Sisters, Mac Powell (Third Day), Shane and Shane, Trevor Morgan, Randall Goodgame, Brianna Lane, Kort McCumber, Florez, Joan Wyatt Band, Braden Land, Shelby James as well as many more great artists. They also have been featured on Georgia's Public Radio with Edgar Treiguts and on Prescott, Arizona's ‘Folk Sessions’. www.TREESLEAVEMUSIC.com www.myspace.com/TREESLEAVE www.reverbnation.com/treesleave www.facebook.com/treesleavemusic

An Intimate Evening With CHUCK CANNON (8:30 pm - 10:30 pm)
Acclaimed Nashville based songwriter who's written over a dozen #1 songs recorded by a variety of mega-stars comes back to 'The Moon' for another sure to sell out show! South Carolina born and Nashville fired; Chuck Cannon is a multi award winning songwriter who can deliver his own songs even better than the diverse array of iconic artists who recorded them… Toby Keith, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Boy Zone, and Dolly Parton to name a few! From “I Love the Way You Love Me” to “American Soldier” and “How Do You Like Me Now” to the gut wrenching title track of his latest album, “God Shaped Hole” the depth of his ability to both tell a story and put it perfectly to music is almost immeasurable! CHUCK CANNON'S BIOGRAPHY I grew up in the low country of South Carolina. My Daddy and Granddaddy were both Pentecostal preachers, (which pretty much means directions to the churches where they preached and I went usually included crossing rail-road tracks and taking dirt roads) ... so my earliest musical influence was in church ... mama taking my hands and showing me how to clap on 2 and 4 ... teaching me how to sing harmony ... singin' I'll Fly Away, Amazing Grace and Just As I Am ... always on the backbeat ... and soon as I could sit where i wanted to in church ... from the backseat ... I started singing solo in church before I was five years old and Daddy should've known better ... I've never stopped ... well not for long anyway. The first music I ever owned was a Beatles 45 that had "If I Fell" and I think another ballad ... like "And I Love Her" or something like that ...can't remember but I do remember my mama coming into my room and listening and saying these guys were good ... mama sure knew what was good ... she turned me on to Sinatra and The Platters ... and I am sure she was in love with Dean Martin ... The first album I ever owned was Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison record and it was the coolest thing ever ’ til mama heard the cussin' on the record and took it from me ... I listened to everything I could get away with in a Pentecostal preacher's home ... but I have to say ... it wasn't strict by Pentecostal standards ... our family loved music of all kinds ... I can even remember some lady in Daddy's church fussin' at him about the kind of music the preacher's children listened to and how we were a bad influence ... I don't think it fazed Daddy one bit ... Daddy's the one who turned me on to Isaac Hayes! "Hot Buttered Soul" and "I Stand Accused" and believe me ... Ike's rap was way cool years before Barry White got famous for a commercialized version ... not to take anything away from Barry White ... but check out any "Ike's Rap" which shows up on most Isaac Hayes records. I listened to The Beatles, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, the STAX stuff, CCR, Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Jim Croce, Elton John, Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, and others too numerous to mention... and they all influenced me and what I like in music... I hit the bars with my guitar when I was 17 and played the beach circuit for several years before moving to Nashville in 1984. I went to Belmont University and studied Music Business and Finance. In 1988 I met producer Marshall Morgan, who signed me as a staff songwriter to Taste Auction Music. In 1992 I opened my own publishing company, Wacissa River Music, Inc. In 2006 I started Chuck Cannon Music which covers all my new publishing and production efforts. These are my publishing companies and they have exactly one writer and he is all I can put up with ... I look at him every morning and say, "get off your ass!" he looks back from the mirror and says, "get of my ass!!" ... One of my greatest honors was to be elected President of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI, 2001-2003). I still serve on their Executive Board and Legislative Committees. The honors my songs have garnered include BMIs Eight-Million-Air award for the song "I Love The Way You Love Me" which was the Academy of Country Music's 1993 Song of the Year and went on to become an international hit when BOYZONE released it in Europe as a single in 1999, where it stayed at the top of the charts for over 3 months. I've had numerous multi-week number one songs and many other BMI Million-Air awards but of all the songs I've written, the ones that consistently bring me back to what I love about music are the ones I haven't written yet ... I love what I do and I do what I love ... and I make a living like that ... I'm still amazed ... but even more, I am truly grateful to everyone who has helped me ... I've made alot of friends and still have most of them ... and they're the best of them! $ 18 Advance Reservations / $ 20 Day of Show www.CHUCKCANNON.com www.myspace.com/CHUCKCANNONSONGS

Montana Skies (8:30 pm - 10:30 pm)
A must see live concert experience: a duo with the full spectrum of an orchestra crossed with the energy of a rock band! Montana Skies creates a sound much bigger than any two instruments should rightfully produce. By fusing traditional sounds with new technology, they generate music with multiple layers, textures and rhythm... and it’s all created live! In concert the duo delves into music from Pink Floyd to Vivaldi, as well as their own, award winning, originals that have been featured everywhere from NPR to the Travel Channel. Winners of the Lifestyle Radio Music Awards for Best New Artist of 2004 and Best Contemporary Acoustic Album of 2005, Jonathan and Jennifer pair cello, six-string electric cello, Spanish/classical guitar, and steel string guitar. Montana Skies’ touring has taken them all across the US, Canada and to Asia and Russia and tonight they'll be in the wonderfully intimate setting of The Crimson Moon Cafe! MORE INFO ON THIS AWARD WINNING DUO! Jonathan and Jennifer met while studying music at the University of Georgia. Recognizing a kindred spirit in each other's devotion to their music, the desire to share music together was ignited immediately. The two assumed they would be performing classical recitals and great works for the cello and guitar; then, in one trip to the library to select music, their whole world of classical intentions came crashing down. The discovery: music written for cello and guitar was as rare as the combination itself -- no great classical works existed. What resulted from this new musical freedom of expression between the two was the formation of Montana Skies, and a unique style of music that would garner instant recognition and praise. Jonathan explains, "The fact that 'ready made' repertoire is not available for our combination of instruments is really what pushes us to be more creative with our music. We love composing and arranging, and appreciate the opportunity to present old favorites, along with newer music, to our audiences." Montana Skies' name is taken from one of the first songs Jonathan composed for the group titled "Montana Skies." The song was written specifically about being in Montana and the joy of inspiration Jonathan felt from its natural beauty. At the time of its composition, he and Jennifer were completing their individual studies of music (he in Montana and she in Italy) and they realized that they would like to be together. Written during a crucial turning point in their relationship, the song marked the beginning of the duo's musical collaboration and their newly found sound. Montana Skies maintains an active touring schedule. Highlights from their touring has included: the Seoul Arts Center (2,500 seats) in S. Korea, Great Falls Civic Auditorium (1,800 seats) in Montana, and the new backstage series at the Morrison Center in Boise, Idaho. Jonathan's full length instructional book and CD, "Getting Into Fingerstyle Guitar" was published in 2002 by Mel-Bay Publications. Additional publications are in the works! $14 Advance Reservations / $16 Day of Show http://www.MONTANASKIESMUSIC.com

Blue Grass, Old Time, Country/Blues standards, and American Folk are the most likely tunes to bubble up, but any American ‘traditional’ music is welcome.  Occasionally, the owner of The Crimson Moon Café climbs on stage to join them for a few songs as well, but anyone who knows how to play in instrument or sing is welcome to join in – often with talented musicians picking on their instruments to back you up if desired!

The INSONNIA Jazz Project Featuring CURTIS JONES (7:30 pm - 9:30 pm)
(Sinatra Sunday will return in October!) Renowned flat-picking, finger style & jazz guitarist, Curtis Jones, joins Pete Orinstien on piano, Steve Mays on fretless bass and Mark Letalien on percussion to perform original tunes with a wide variety of flavors that center around a steady stream of sizzling hot jazz! Most of this phenomenally talented mix of world class musicians first debuted at The Crimson Moon as ‘The Native Immigrants’; appeared again with Martin Norgaard (one of the world’s best fiddle players/violinists) as ‘The Mtn. Gypsy Project’; and came back with tonight’s seminally talented core membership as INSONNIA. All three shows left the audience in awe of their intuitive abilities to follow each other along seemingly impossible pathways through the universe of music – and back again, for another jazz flavored adventure. Tonight’s return performance promises an additional layer of magic via horn players from the 2nd/4th Sunday Jazz Jams that may show up as well! TICKETS MORE INFO ABOUT ‘INSONNIA’ The Insonnia Band formed in the early part of 2010 when Curtis Jones was contacted about hosting a Jazz Jam in North Ga. The first call Curtis put in was to long time friends Pianist Pete Orenstein and Bassist Steve Mays, who both were members of other bands Curtis had worked with in the past. After many days and many calls in to find a drummer a friend of Curtis' gave him the number of drummer Mark Letalien and the gig was set with a group that had never played as a unit before. Upon striking the first notes together everyone was amazed at the chemistry and energy the four musicians shared that night, the day after a decision to be a formal band was reached and the name ‘Insonnia’ was chosen. Curtis is Italian, and ‘insonnia’ is the Italian word for ‘staying up all night’ – which is what happened every time they practiced together! The band began doing jazz standards from Miles, Monk and all the greats, but with each practice more original music was added, and now performs mostly original compositions written within the group's members. The most unique thing about this group is it's ability to play any style of music and still maintain the ‘Insonnia’ sound: a major influence of Jazz and Spanish Flamenco; vocal selections that float around a James Taylor ‘sound thread’; and melodies and rhythms from all over the world! $15 Advance Reservations / $18 Day of Show www.myspace.com/INSONNIABAND www.myspace.com/CORTINIMUSIC
