Michelle Malone (8:30 pm - 10:30 pm)
Twice Grammy nominated 'Moanin' Malone' plays southern rock & hard-edge blues that could knock Sheryl Crow & Bonnie Raitt off their pedestals! Armed with a bottleneck slide, blues harmonica, and her signature gut-wrenching vocals, Moanin’ Malone (a nickname given to her by BB King after hearing her sing), has shared stages and tours with such blues legends as Charlie Musselwhite, Johnny Winter, ZZ Top, Marsha Ball and the late Chris Whitley - as well as folk icons Indigo Girls, Shawn Colvin, Jackson Browne and John Mayer! Tonight’s ‘unplugged’ performance will feel like she’s playing in your living room – ‘cause she’s playing a rare show without her band – and she can already make an intimate venue feel like the center of the universe! MORE INFO ABOUT MICHELLE MALONE Armed with a bottleneck slide, blues harmonica, and her signature soul-filled vocals, Michelle Malone was born in the Deep South and grew up listening to her mother sing in the church choir every Sunday. When it came time to craft her own sound, she took those religious roots, blended in enough rock, folk, and blues to satisfy. The result is, Debris, a high-spirited stripped down blend of rootsy acoustic slide, gritty electric blues and explosive vocals that harkens back to the lost recordings of Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams and The Rolling Stones. Debris, Michelle’s 10th release, is easily one of her most revealing and emotional discs. Helping her capture the mood is producer Nick Di Dia (Nick has been Brendon O’Brien’s engineer for 15 years, and has worked on recordings by Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Train, Matthew Sweet). Says Malone, “Nick is brilliant, and we found that we work very well together. He was able to translate the live grit of “Feather In A Hurricane” and “Undertow” and in the next breath illustrate his sensitivity and finesse on “14th Street and Mars” and “Debris”. He let the songs take us where they wanted to go. Malone found herself tackling some serious subject matter while at the same time making that spirited soul-shaking music that she loves. She says, “I have to play these songs every night, so I need them to be fun – I want to have a good time, too.” If one line could capture the sentiment of Debris it would be, “Don’t you think it’s time to let your childhood go?” Michelle expounds, “Debris is basically a breakup record about a relationship that had me in a state of arrested development for over a decade. I wrote about the anger, the heartbreak, the humor, and the relief I finally found in the end.” Joining Malone in the studio were long time friend and heavy hitter Peter Stroud on guitar (Sheryl Crow), Phil Skipper on bass (Tinsley Ellis, Drag the River), Tony Reyes on keys (Dallas Austin, Gwen Stefani), and Dave Anthony on drums (Ike, Butch Walker). The names of Michelle Malone’s ten albums serve as an autobiography; New Experience, Relentless, For You Not Them, Redemption Dream, Beneath the Devil Moon, Home Grown, Hello Out There, Stompin’ Ground, and last year’s critically acclaimed Sugarfoot. She has been on dozens of “Best Of” lists and won many awards throughout her career including 4 time best album (Atlanta magazine), 2 time best acoustic guitarist (Creative Loafing, IAC), Best Blues Guitarist (IAC.com), and 5 time female vocalist of the year (Creative Loafing). Living a paraphrased line by one of her inspirations, Tina Turner, Michelle has never done anything nice and easy. She bit the major label lure and despite promises broken, indulgences extended and excesses expected, Michelle continued creating solid songs, introspective, energetic and impressive forays into bluesy rock as well as tasty pop nuggets. This wealth of material has enabled Malone, to tour and record for over 20 years, averaging over 200 days a year on the road. Michelle’s live show is not to be missed—she can make the biggest venues seem as cozy as a campfire, and an intimate venue feel like the center of the universe. She’s shared stages with blues legends Albert King, Charlie Musselwhite, Johnny Winter, Little Feat, Lurrie Bell, ZZ Top, Robert Cray, Keb Mo, Tinsley Ellis, Marsha Ball and Chris Whitley as well as Indigo Girls, John Mayer, Steve Earle, K.T. Tunstall, Shawn Colvin, Jackson Browne and Joan Osborne. “Why Michelle Malone hasn’t knocked the likes of Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt off of their roots-rock and blues pedestals blows the mind. Malone’s authentic interpretation of good old Southern rock and hard-edge blues should have her rubbing shoulders with the Allman Brothers and Buddy Guys of the world. Malone’s hand-to-mouth, pounding touring might limit her recording schedule, but her last couple of studio releases, Sugarfoot and Stompin’ Ground, are rousing and relentless toe-tapping beauties deserving of a boatload of attention.” – GEMELLI (The Village Voice, NY, NY) www.MICHELLEMALONE.com $20 Advance Reservations / $22 Day of Show

During the early weeks of the market shoppers will find a variety of plants available along with smaller quantities of spring garden vegetables in season. As warmer weather arrives, the number of seasonal vegetables and fruits increases at the market. Shoppers will notice the special high quality of the produce. It is obvious that the fruits and vegetables are grown with great pride and care. All products at the market are locally grown by the farmers who are also selling them at the park. SALLY BARRIS And DON HENRY (8:30 pm - 10:30 pm)
Grammy/CMA Song of The Year winner known as “the Randy Newman of the 90’s” teams up with one of Nashville’s most exquisite ‘song birds’ and Grammy Nominee, Sally Barris, for an evening of not to miss song sharing! From Kathy Mattea’s Grammy+ award winning recording of Don’s ‘Where Have You Been’ to Trisha Yearwood’s & Keith Urban’s Grammy nominated collaboration of Sally’s ‘Let The Wind Chase You,’ the song crafting skills of Sally Barris and Don Henry are as diverse and impressionable as the lists of artists who’ve recorded them. From the legendary Ray Charles or Conway Twitty, to the more contemporary Martina McBride or Lee Ann Womack, Don and Sally’s songs have helped carry many a ‘top tier’ artist even higher up the charts. Henry’s strong lyrical flavors of Randy Newman, John Prine, and Harry Chapin …sweetened by Barris’s Nanci Griffith/Alison Kraus shadowed crystalline vocals… will create a memorable feast of song sharing from these Nashville writers tonight! PRESS QUOTES ABOUT SALLY & DON "Sally Barris has a voice like sparkling crystal. You could have knocked me over with a feather the first time I heard her. Her writing is from a deep, yet innocent, place and her point of view is just a bit off center. I am excited for her, she is standing at the beginning of her journey in this town, with all of it ahead of her. It reminds me of the first time I heard Beth Nielson-Chapman or Nanci Griffith. It’s going to be fun to watch." - Kathy Mattea Henry comes across as a first cousin to Randy Newman, writing hot-wired songs about born-again whores, interfaith marriages, and the homeless taking over the White House. This is funny and thought provoking stuff, all of it good. - Entertainment Weekly "Her soulful folk soprano is equal parts mountain rustic and ethereal poet. Everything about this disc is beautiful." - Music Row Magazine (review of Reluctant Daughter) Except for a few hecklers who jokingly mixed him up with Don Henley (which must happen all the time), the crowd was won over by this one guy and his guitar, and anyone this talented at being funny and touching at the same time certainly won't stay unknown for long. Long may he write. - Dirty Linen "What an amazing voice! Sally Barris has an excruciatingly beautiful voice." - Pierce Pettis Neobilly's answer to Harry Chapin. - Hits!
